Some similarities: Hemorrhoids and varicose veins are similar in that they can occur at any age but are more common in folks as they age. They are both common and hereditary. They are both enlarged veins.Hemorrhoids are worsened with straining when having a bm and with prolonged sitting on the toilet. Varicose veins are worsened with prolonged standing. They are also associated with pregnancy and childbirth.

After pregnancy: Pressure in the veins cause both. Straining for hemorrhoid and standing for varicose veins. With childbirth causing both.
