Whats the difference between a blocked tear duct and a stye in the lid?

Location mainly: The tear duct is in the corner of the bottom eyelid near the nose and drains tears into the nose. It can be blocked at birth creating watering eyes with discharge, or occur later from other causes. Sometimes that needs surgery to open.A stye is a blocked, and usually infected gland in he eyelid at the base f an eyelash. Can often be treated with compresses and antibiotic drops.
