A member asked:

I had a cbc, and my mean corpuscular hemoglobin and mchc are high, what's causing it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

MCH and MCHC: Mean corpuscular hemoglobin and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration look at how "red" someone's cells are. High levels are most commonly due to a laboratory artifact but can also be seen when a person has cells called spherocytes. If your CBC was otherwise normal, i wouldn't worry about it. On the other hand, if you also have a low hemoglobin and hematocrit, you should see a hematologist.
