Depends on anatomy: If you have good skin elasticity, localized fat and a prominent jawline, it is likely you will have an excellent result.

Very effective: Liposuction under the chin or in the neck is very effective in removing the extra bulge produced by fat. If you have excess skin you might need another procedure.

Chin liposuction: My patients have been thrilled with the results of chin liposuction. The recovery period and pain is minimal. Most of my patients do the procedure in the office with local anesthesia. The patients say that it is less painful than most dental procedures. The liposuction removes pockets of fat under the chin and helps to tighten lax skin.

Good: Chin liposuction can be very rewarding in selected patients. If the skin tone is good liposuction can remove fat and make the contour of the neck much better. If however the skin is very loose the lipo can make this worse. See a board certified plastic surgeon to get an opinion

Overall effective: Chin or submental liposuction is a minimally invasive technique to define the jawline by removing excess fat and the appearance of a double chin. It can improve the contour of the cervicomental angle and reduce the appearance of a double chin. Risks include bleeding, infection, nerve injury, irregular contour, scarring, and need for revision.

Adding to answers: Yes a submental liposuction can provide very good results. Things to consider are the age of the patient which effect the ability of the skin to retract. You do not want to remove the fat and then have the skin left hanging!
