It depends: In general, vitamin pills are unnecessary if one eats a healthy diet. However, as one ages, one's vitamin d levels tend to decrease and it may be necessary to supplement vitamin d if one hardly gets sun exposure or eats food rich in vitamin d. Otherwise, age is not a factor.
