How often should a person with diabetes be checked for albuminuria?

Depends: For uncontrolled blood glucose, albuminuria or mau is a marker for kidney damage. Really depends on the individual as frequency is based on blood glucose.

Depends: If your protein shows up on a normal dipstick urine, then you know you have micro-albumin and there is no need to check for that. You could probably manage with your routine visits and urine dip. If your protein does not show up on dipstick, then you should have urine protein and baseline micro-albumin then dependent on those results your doctor can best advise future checks.
