A member asked:

Why is albuminuria a result of hyperglycemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sugar damages kidney: Uncontrolled hyperglycemia(high sugar) as seen in diabetes damages all of the organs of the body including the kidneys. Damaged kidney then leaks protein (albumin) into urine and you get albuminuria. Progression of this problem can lead to kidney failure, thats why is so important to control diabetes and hyperglycemia.
