Possibly: It has been suggested that retro-cycling, or pedaling backwards, is easier on injured knees. This has been inadequately studied. What research that has been done suggest that patients with meniscus, ligament, or arthritis problems might have less problems with retro-cycling. However, patients with patellofemoral (or knee cap) problems may have more pain with this technique.
