A member asked:

Does urine routine and culture as well as kub ultrasound detect pregnancy or std?

See below: Pregnancy is detected by a specialized urine or blood test for hcg. It is verified by ultrasound. Kub or ua & culture are of no use for pregnancy detection. Stds are detected by cultures specifically for a suspected infection. Trichomonas can be picked up in a ua. A general urine culture will not pick up most stds. A kub or us will not detect STDs - just nonspecific effects on internal organs.

Agree with Dr. B: Thee are specific tests for each of the conditions you mentioned. If you missed your period by 4-5 days, do a home pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. Get HPV vaccine.
