Balanced, low carb: Research shows that vegetarians tend to have a lower body weight than meat eaters. A balanced diet rich in fruits & vegies (ideally organic) with protein from nuts, beans, eggs & dairy should help. Limiting simple carbs helps lose weight so minimize white flour, white rice, potatoes & corn & eat whole grains in moderation. Avoid excess cheese/fried foods.Exercise is also often key to losing weight.

Diet: Stay away from fried veggies and watch your caloric intake. Anything, even fruits and vegetables can cause weight gain if consumed in large enough quantities. Avocados while nutritious are high in fat and calories. And be sure and get lots of exercise.
