Check D-DIMER, etc.: If d-dimer lab is elevated then pulmonary embolus (p.E.) needs to be ruled out with chest ct-angio. P.E. 's are easily missed. Shortness of breath is an 'angina equivalent' so coronary heart disease needs to considered (e.g. Lab: troponin/cpk/myoglobin) another lab is a bnp which if elevated points to CHF (right or left sided heart failure) and echocardiogram may be helpful. Hope better soon!

Anxiety, other brain: While a pulmonary embolism is a possibility, i'm assuming they checked for anemia, thyroid problems, pulmonary hypertension, shunting of oxygen in a fistula, etc. If it isn't one of the above low hanging fruit, brain/anxiety issues can give a terrible sense of dyspneic with no physiologic abnormalities.
