Heart disease: Heart disease refers to any problem primarily involving the heart. This can be acute (comes on suddenly and/or short duration) or chronic (long time coming, lasts a long time). Coronary artery disease is where the arteries that feed your heart become diseased and cause the heart to be starved for blood. This chronic problem can have acute elements, like a heart attack.
