Depends: Depends on the age of your child. In general terms, a child might need an EP study if an arrhythmia was diagnosed on an office ECG or ambulatory monitory. The EP study is done to come up with a very specific diagnosis. An ablation is usually done after the EP study to try to prevent further episodes of the arrhythmia.
