Not the same: Atrial fibrillation originates above the level of the ventricles (atria: upper chambers of the heart). Biv (v stands for ventricle) pacemakers are used to coordinate (synchronize) signal to the bottom chambers of the heart (ventricles). If ventricular response to afib is not fast (i.e. Above the rate of the pacemaker), the biv pacemaker would still pace the ventricles.

Bivi icd: The bivi device resynchronize right to left ventricle to improve heart function atrial fibrillation comes from the upper chamber of the heart the bivi does not control atrial fibrillation.

Rapid HR override PM: 54 years old with biventricular pacemaker for heart failure and episodes of Atrial fibrillation. Biventricular pacemaker tries to take over your heart beats to control the heart muscle contraction, but when the heart beats faster than the pacemaker such as in rapid atrial fibrillation, the atrial fibrillation will override the pacemaker.

Biv: Atrial fib is an arrhythmia that occurs independent of the device and should be monitored and treated to help prevent strokes
