Get an MRI : As you know, ankle injuries can cause damage to several different structures including a bone called the talus. Sometimes there can be divots in the cartilage on the surface of the talus that can lead to continued pain a long time after the injury. An MRI can show if something like this is going on.

Be examined...: He may need further evaluation with advanced imaging such as an MRI or ct scan to evaluate for an osteochondral lesion.
