See below: Echo checks for wall motion ie prior heart attacks and contractile function of the heart. Can have abnormal rhythm like atrial fibrillation or cardiac extra heart beats with normal echo.

Structural problems: A number of structural problems with the heart can cause irregular heartbeats and can be detected with echocardiography. A normal echocardiogram means that the heart irregularity is due to issues other than structural problems.
