A member asked:

My 18 mth old dtr has multiple petichae, has severe red blistery rash on arms, trunk, & legs. cbc nrml, no fever, any suggestion?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Watchful waiting: Ignore the rash and judge how the child looks otherwise. Is the child tolerating food, alert and behaving normally? Does the child have pain? Additional tests may cause you to begin chasing your tail (or chasing numbers) and hopefully this is a viral illness that will pass without much intervention. However, if your child does appear ill beyond the rash you should seek additional medical attn.
