Stay upright: Acid reflux is basically acid squirting from your stomach up in the direction of your throat. If you are upright, gravity generally speaking keeps the acid towards the bottom of your stomach. But if you lay flat, that acid has an easier time getting to your throat. Food/liquids generally will cause your stomach to make more acid. Putting it all together, laying flat after eating = more heartburn.
