It's unlikely but possible for an egg to fertilize naturally during an ivf cycle - we removing most of the eggs from the follicles in your ovaries at the time of egg retrieval, but a small number of eggs could remain in or around the ovaries.

As long as the fallopian tubes are open (patent) and there is sperm during intercourse or an IUI if the ivf cycle is cancelled for a poor response!
