Ultrasound vs. lipo: Ultrashape is an emerging treatment that used focused ultrasound to melt fat cells. Ultra shape has not been approved by the fda yet and thus is not available in the us. However, other effective non-invasive technologies for fat cell elimination that are fda-approved include liposonix and coolsculpting.

Focused ultrasound: Ultrashape is a "high-intensity focused ultrasound" (hifu) machine. It is a competitor to liposonix. Both use ultrasound energy to heat the subcutaneous fat. It's available in europe, but is not fda approved yet.

What is UltraShape: UltraShape uses external ultrasound to injure, or "melt", fat cells. It is relatively painless and has modest results in reported studies with most patients satisfied.
