How often should I nurse?

In short - on demand: Babies essentially feed 'on demand', meaning they should eat when and how long they wish. On average that may be every 2-3 hours during the day for 30 minutes or so total. At night, it may be a bit more frequent, roughly every 1.5 to 2 hours and 30-40 minutes. Babies are meant to feed more frequently at night for several reasons and that is normal. Feeds longer than that may just be pacifying.

What will happen if I nurse excessively on one side?

Lop-sided.: If you nurse exclusively from one breast, that breast will enlarge to produce all of the milk necessary for your growing infant. The other breast will not. It will not hurt the baby to nurse on one side only. But you will most likely have asymmetrical breasts.

Possible: Comfort measures is usually used in conjunction with palliative care or hospice. If you are asking about that, yes it could mean any thing like pain medication, oxygen, anti-anxiety medication to make patient feel comfortable along with patients chronic medications. I hope this helps.

Plantar Fasciitis.: This sounds like one of the classic symptoms of plantar fasciitis. Consult your specialist for the best treatment options for your particular situation.

If you sleep in the same position and do not move at night the pain may be related to ischemia in the area for the pressure from the weight of your foot leg on your heel. Like a patient getting red on heels before a bed sore develops. Try padding your heels at night to see if this helps.

Wearing plantar fasciitis splints at night can prevent the plantar fascia from tightening up during sleep. Also, gently flexing the foot (toe upward) before getting out of bed can help.
