Bio

Steven E. Zimmet MD, RVT FACPh, a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, completed a residency in family medicine with an elective focus on dermatology. He began practice with Austin Regional Clinic, a multispecialty group in 1981, where he served as chair of family practice, then chair of dermatology and as a board of director. Dr. Zimmet opened a solo practice, which consists of procedural dermatology and phlebology, in 1996. Dr. Zimmet is the founding President of the American Board of Phlebology and editor of Phlebology. He is Past President of the American College of Phlebology (ACP), and was the inaugural Chairman of the ACP Foundation. Dr. Zimmet was awarded the ACP Leadership Award in 2008 and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Leadership Circle in 2011. He is a Fellow Emeritus of the Australasian College of Phlebology. Dr. Zimmet has authored/co-authored six textbook chapters and about twenty publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has been a member of the AAD and ACP for over 20 years. Dr. Zimmet has served as faculty for the ACP, AAD, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Venous Forum, Society for Interventional Radiology, and the French, German, Canadian and Australian Phlebology Societies.
