Could be problem: If you can relate something like abdominal pain to alcohol consumption, you may have a problem. Try to limit your alcohol to no more than 1 drink per day or 7 per week. If you cannot, help is available. Contact a counselor, a treatment center, or your local AA chapter. You don't have to live like this. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

Left upper abdomen: That is an area where gas often gets trapped as the colon takes a sharp turn there. Other possibilities include stomach or pancreatic irritation from alcohol or spices. Try avoiding alcohol, caffeine and spicey greasy foods. If it's gas, drinking hot water and applying a hot water bottle helps move it along. A gastroenterologist is best qualified to evaluate you if symptoms persist.
