An Exam will: help determine whether this is a swallowing issue or one of large tonsils causing choking. If your son snores, has restless and non-restorative sleep, is excessively hyperactive or distractible in the daytime he may have tonsillar and adenoidal hypertrophy. Other possibilities include dysphagia, poor chewing, or a host of other less likely but possible conditions. Until his appointment keep hisfood cut into small pieces and have him drink water between bites. Listen to him at night for possible snoring indicating need for ENT consult
