Sorry: The steroid supreses your immune activity.....to get better from infection you need antibiotic whose action depends on the intact and functioning immune system. Ask your doctor to make up his mind.....whether you have a viral or bacterial infection, you need antibiotic or steroid.

Asthma?: Did you have an asthma attack with suspected underlying infection? If you have not improved despite oral steroids and a course of antibiotics, and you continue to have shortness of breath and chest tightness, then seek care urgently.

I'm concerned: If you are not having any improvement on 3rd day of oral steroids for asthma you need to speak with your physician. If your having difficulty breathing and can't speak with your physician you should go to the emergency room today. You need your medication adjusted, today to prevent your condition from becoming dangerously worse. Asthma can get worse quickly if not treated urgently.
