Influenza: Influenza is a viral infection so treatment does not include antibiotics unless you develop a bacterial complication. Even if you have bronchitis, it is viral and still part of the flu. Treatment is lots of fluids to treat couh and prevent dehydration from fevers, rest, & fever reducers.

Run its course: Influenza lasts between 7 and 14 days. You will feel pretty bad but your body (assuming you're otherwise healthy) will fight it. If you truly have the flu virus and not some other bacterial infection, then antibiotics won't do a thing at all. If you were given antibiotics for just the flu (and not something else), it was a complete waste and increases the risk of side effects.
