Left lung is in spasm, she is being treated with 3 liters of o2 via nasal cannula, steroids, antibiotic and nebulizer trmts every 4 hours. her o2 stats continue to drop, the are now in the mid 80s. is there anything else to be done?

Mgt.: Cultures of Respiratory secretions may be sent for bacterial, fungal and viral diagnostic testing. In addition, if she is wheezing Albuterol may be given more frequently as tolerated. Another bronchodilator may also be added.A non invasive ventilation device may help. Chest imaging studies can rule out a collection of fluid around the lung, or collapse of the lung.
