Quitting tobacco results in a withdrawal syndrome which can include irritability, which in extreme cases can lead to agitation, usually in the presence of underlying psychiatric disorders like bipolar disorder. In addition, some of the medications associated with smoking cessation, like bupropion and varenicline can be associated with agitation, depression &suicidal ideation. Good luck!
