Time: After a trauma it is normal for the blood that forms from a bruise to change color and move around. Blood from a bruise often settles out lower than the area of trauma just from gravity. It may turn many colors before it resolves. You can use cool compresses if it is bothering you (not ice), but it will resolve on its own in a few weeks.

Common: Many times after trauma, the bruising develops a few days after the trauma. The color of the bruise will change too, from purple to yellow over time and it may seep down to mostly under your eye (gravity) over time before it resolves. Put ice on your eye. Most importantly, if you are having headaches or vision changes or feel dizzy, see your MD as you may have a concussion.
