A member asked:

My fathers lipid panel! total cholest: 243, triglycerides: 257, hdl: 44, vldl: 51, ldl: 148, ldl/hdl ratio: 3.4. calcium score was a 1. is this bad?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hyperlipidemia: Bad is a part of a formula or an angle. It depends on your dad's pmhx, MI, Cardiovascular Risk factors etc. It is likely that his LDL should be lower as well as Triglycerides. I would assume he is currently on a Statin or will be placed on one in addition to lifestyle modification.
