High BP: can be a result of an illness caused by a virus but should resolve without BP meds once the viral illness resolves

Never had heart problems until stopped taking Atenolol for hyperthyroid (levels now normal). Doc didnt say to wean as took low dose for 2 weeks. Now I wake almost every hour with heart rate at 145 then slows down. Withdrawal? Will be doing holter?
