Probably right: Insect bites are very common and what you've described makes sense. Usually applying a topical steroid cream such as hydrocortisone 1% is sufficient. If they don't clear up in 2-3 days I would have a doctor look at them. Also, if you have pets or are exposed to pets you should have them checked for flees.
