What's managed care and why was it invented?

Freedom: Managed care is hmo so you are assigned a group of practitioner and your care is managed by your primary physician and you need authorization for most of your care. It was created as a way to maintain cost and have coordinated managed care.

Rising Health Costs: There are several reasons Managed Care was created of to control rising costs of health care that were caused by numerous factors such as more specialized and expensive medications / procedures AND the previous unregulated use of medications/ procedures.
