ENT: Using Q-Tips is not usually recommended to clean ears. What you could be doing is pushing wax deeper inside the ear canal and causing a significant obstruction or even worse perforation to the tympanic membranes. ENT MDs usually say that the way to clean your ears is with your elbows ;) Clean outer portion but avoid getting things inside the ear canal.
