See a dentist first: You need to get any an all cavities fixed before getting your braces, because any decay under the braces will make things much complicated.

First things first: Have your carious lesions restored before you begin orthodontic care.

Get tooth fixed: first then braces.

Absolutely not: No ethical Orthodontic Specialist will place braces on infected teeth. Please ask your Family Dentist and your Orthodontic Specialist to create a collaborative treatment plan that will bring you to a state of optimum oral health.

No: Braces can make a big improvement in the way you look and the way your teeth function. However, it is necessary to remove the disease process of decay first.

Decay.Braces?: Its kinda like saying you are "slightly" pregnant. You either have decay or your do not. PRIOR to having braces put on your teeth, you NEED to take care of any dental issues first (decay, cleanings, etc). Once the braces are on, oral hygiene maybe more difficult...and any decay "could" get worse. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
