It would be for me: But-I'm sure there are situations and justifications for that sort of combination when dealing with pain management situations of special gravity or in patients who may have terminal cancer illnesses who are in completely unremitting and relentless pain. But in general, I would think that either 1 or the other in high enough dose or frequency of dosing should be sufficient for most types of pain.

Methadone: Methadone is for the constant pain and the oxycodone is for breakthrough pain. They are prescribed together at times but rarely due to risk of overdose.
