Not much: Allergy medications such as Claritin, Allegra and Zyrtec work by blocking antihistamine which is not part of the cold/respiratory infection process so not much help. Older antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may help some with irritant cough and sleep from drowsy side effect. Decongestants such as Sudafed may help relieve some of the nasal congestion but avoid in children
