A member asked:

Why would a gynecologist want to do an ultrasound if the patient wasn't pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Non-fetal sonogram: There are many gynecological problems that can be diagnosed with pelvic sonogram, such as uterine fibroids, leiomyomatous uterus, ovarian cysts, adenomyosis (endometriosis of the uterus), uterine/fallopian tube/ovaian cancer and endometrial polyps are just a few diseases that can be diagnosed or ruled out with pelvic sonogram. Ask your gynecologist - communication with your doctor is healthy!
