A member asked:

Who should i see if i have optic neuritis - an ophthalmologist or neurologist?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Optic neuritis : you might have to see both. Optic neuritis can be caused by neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis. So once the ophthalmologist has confirmed the diagnosis of optic neuritis based on clinical eye exam, a work up is needed to figure out the cause and that work up is frequently performed by a neurologist.
