Colors darker: Without an exam, it's impossible to tell for sure, but these could be symptoms of optic neuritis. Optic neuritis is inflammation of the optic nerve that connects the eye to the brain. It can be autoimmune as in MS, infectious as in Lymes, or vascular as in NA-AION. All of these examples show that the underlying disease can be serious and requires expert clinical evaluation. ?did it persist: Optic neuritis is progressive and tends to last for many weeks if not treated. However, it is associated with pain on eye motion, and color desaturation, not darkening. Eyes of course are important, and if you have persistent visual change, you need to see your doctor ASAP. Transient visual changes are usually benign and can be associated with postural blood pressure changes or migraine.
