Varies: There are slightly different muscle groups used. But my own input would be that the paddle boarding requires more use of lower extremities due to the standing and balancing as opposed to sitting in a kayak. Rigorous kayaking probably is a more intensive workout for the upper extremities than paddling a standup board.
