A member asked:

Must you have the same blood type to give a kidney to someone in need?

Yes: A person considering organ donation must be very carefully screened; or tissue matched, to ensure the organ will not be "rejected" by the new host. This can be done by a thorough series of blood tests; of which a simple blood type is usually included.

Mostly yes: Very few centers will do it if the blood group is different.
