A member asked:

Glucose 109 fasting, 120 non fast. 39 year old male, 5'8" 165 lbs. 157 ldl, normal triglycerides/hdl. should i be concerned about glucose?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Hi. If that fasting glucose is reproducible, you have impaired fasting glucose, and are at higher risk of becoming diabetic. Your BMI is right at the transition from normal to overweight. Asians have type 2 diabetes risk at a lower BMI than blacks, Hispanics, and whites. Do you have a family history of type 2 diabetes? It could also be type 1, which develops more gradually at your age than in kids
