Follow up : It's difficult to clarify with little information however it is not uncommon to have some pain and even swelling following some root canal procedures. Your Flagyl will likely help reduce infection. You may continue to be numb following anesthetic but if it lasts for more than a day you should call your doctor, it's best to review with them what to expect given the procedure they competed for you.

Root canal infection: From what you describe it is extremely important that you ask these types of questions to the dentist who is actually treating you. Only he/she can diagnose, treat and properly respond to your questions and concerns. Call and ask and ask to be seen asap if your symptoms are not improving.

Opposite: It sounds as if the combination of root canal treatment and antibiotics is not addressing your infection. Important that you see your treating Dentist ASAP. You my need different antibiotic, additional treatment, or referral to a root canal specialist, an Endodontist.
