Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is fine but: cetirizine or loratadine, have more convinient dosing though and should be non-sedating, all are OTC, what I advise you more, is to stay at home for at least 24 hrs after the attack, keep epipen (epinephrine) handy, continue using the any antihistamine regulary, use as well ranitidine regulary, flag the medicine that caused it and visit an Allergist, check aaaai.org or acaai.org to see allergists where you live
