Follow up: You will need follow-up exams, ultrasound, and lab tests on a regular basis. You will also need to be on thyroid hormone replacement with monitoring of blood levels. Some patients with thyroid cancer also benefit from radiotherapy or radioactive iodine. Your surgeon and/or oncologist should discuss this with you.
