Central DI: Hard to answer. It was called "idiopathic", meaning no clear cause. In a 13 yr old, the causes could include a tumor, certain medications, trauma/surgery, meningitis, etc. It is possible that something happened back then but then resolved. Is it possible that you now still have partial DI? Under usual conditions, don't need DDAVP, (desmopressin) but under water stress you may. See your Endocrinologist.
