Need to know his: age. There are many new barrier repairs available so make sure you see a board certified dermatologist and perhaps even a pediatric dermatologist for new treatments

Try These:: Ask your doctor about tacrolimus (brand name Protopic) and pimecrolimus (brand-name: Elidel). They're new and probably worth a try. Expensive (about $1.25 a capsule). Hopefully you've been prescribed a steroid stronger than cortisone. Some mothers have found that topical Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream helps somewhat. Also think if something in the diet is making things worse (food allergy) or the environment.
