How is her diet?: U r absolutely right about the new controversy regarding calcium supplements and cardiac risk, but it does not say anything about calcium in diet/foods. So, consuming calcium rich foods will reduce need to take supplement. Also, vitamin use can improve absorption of calcium. But, she should check with her doc for a possible scan to how her done is at this time, then treatment. Good luck.

Discuss with Dr: D/w your doctor the risk and benefits. You are right about risk of heart disease which has been shown in several studies recently. Thought is it may be better to get calcium through the diet with 3 serving of dairy +/- 8oz glass of oj with calcium daily.
