Exercise: if your hypertension is controlled there is really no limit to your exercise, especially at your age. You just need to keep yourself hydrated to avoid kidney damage as should everyone who exercises.

Usual exercises: The key issue is controlling the BP in the goal range 110-130/60-80 If controlled and no other serious medical problems aerobic (walking, running, swimming, bike riding, treadmill, etc) and anaerobic(resistance or wt training) or yoga/tai chi are ok. Safe exercise is regular (3x/wk or more) and very gradual in increased intensity. Stress test may be indicated to assess BP control. Check with MD.

Most any: Most aerobic exercises are completely safe with reasonable hypertension and will help in the long run. Theoretically - incredibly heavy weight lifting and holding ones breath can transiently increase ones pressure and thus may not be ideal, but this is for hypertensives (over 160 systolic) and for intense weight lifting.

Hypertension: Hi Arianna, first, it depends on your ability. Start with a 30 minute walk, and work your way up from there.eventually, transition to jogging, rowing, or cycling for cardio. If you are overweight, consider a healthy diet with portion and calorie control as weight loss can help. Also, drink plenty of water, get plenty of sleep (8 hours/night), and avoid salt/sodium.
